Vision and Mission Statement
Vision Statement: A community living and growing in unity with God and all people through Christ.
Mission Statement: To seek God in reverent worship, service to neighbors, gracious hospitality, and the pursuit of wisdom.

A Note from Rev. Teri

Dear All Saints’ Family,
Deacon Kaye will be on a sabbatical for the next two months. She is and has been so faithful in her work for this congregation, and no one deserves a rest more than she does! Until her return, please contact the church office, Rev. Michaelene, or me (Rev. Teri) for pastoral needs. Clergy phone numbers are available in Realm for evening or weekend emergencies.
Some of you have asked about the schedule of when clergy will be present at All Saints’ during the week. I am part-time (and have been since coming to All Saints”). My agreement with All Saints’ is for 30 hours/week, and I am usually present at church on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Rev. Michaelene is employed full-time, and she is usually present Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
If you have any concerns or questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Much peace,
Teri

Instructed Eucharist on Sunday, August 5th, at 4 pm.

Have you ever wondered why we worship the way we do-what we mean by our opening acclamation, why we read the gospel from the middle of the church aisle, why the Nicene Creed follows the sermon, why we pass the Peace after praying for forgiveness, what it means that we bring the bread and wine from the back of the church to the altar, what we believe happens during the Eucharistic prayer, why we cross ourselves at certain times in the liturgy, why we turn and face the cross at the end of the service? If you have, then come to an Instructed Eucharist on Sunday, August 5th, at 4 pm. We will celebrate Eucharist together, pausing briefly to discuss the meaning of each part of the service as we worship. Although this Instructed Eucharist is part of our Inquirers Class, this service is open to everyone in the church! Camp Sing-a-Long Sunday, July 22nd at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral 310 W. 17th St. Little Rock, AR. 72206. Music and worship begins at 5pm. Followed by food and fellowship.

Coffee with the Curate

Our Curate, the Rev. Michaelene Miller, will regularly be at Midtown Coffee (407 N. Arkansas Ave) on Friday mornings from 8:00 am – 10:00 am. Email her at RevMichaeleneMiller@gmail.com to set up a specific time to meet or just drop by to chat. She would love to get to know you more and meet others in the community.

Loaves and Fish

Most of the guests who join us on Saturday for lunch face many challenges; the Members and Friends of All Saints can provide a few essential items to help them out.
Next Sunday, July 29, personal hygiene items (shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, lotion, body soap, tooth paste, tooth brushes, wipes) will be collected in the little red wagon that sits near the entrance to the Nave. Gifts received at Sunday Worship Services will be available for our Neighbors Table guests to pick up on the following Saturday.
The annual All Saints’ rummage sale is now accepting donations! Clean out your closets, garages, and storage rooms to uncover those treasures you no longer want or use, and we will gladly put them in the sale. Donations should be brought to the church and placed in classroom 1. Please contact the church office if you need help with your items. We encourage all parish members to participate in preparing items for sale or in the sale-day excitement! Staging and pricing days will be as follows:
                                Wednesday, August 8 from 9am-3pm
                                Thursday, August 9 from 3pm-7pm
                                Friday, August 10 from 9am-3pm
Sale day is Saturday, August 11 from 7:00am to 12:00pm, with our famous $1 “stuff the bag” sale from 12:00-1:00.   All are welcome!
First Thursday Book Talk at All Saints’
We will meet on Thursday, August 2, in the parlor from 12-1. Our book is Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan. This young adult novel looks inside two teenage boys struggling to discover their pathway to their adult selves. For more information, please see our Facebook page.

Parish Event Group

At All Saints’ we occasionally all get together to enjoy special celebrations: sometimes we gather on Holidays, or on the significant Sundays that mark the season of the Church year; sometimes we have a party just to eat and visit and simply take pleasure in each other’s company as we mark noteworthy events in the life of our Parish and our members.
Vestry member Ricki Duffee and Don Hill are organizing a committee to help plan and host these events: If you would like to be a part of their special “Parish Events Group” please notify the office or let a vestry member know you would like to help.
It will be a group with very few meetings, and lots of fun and fellowship.
Inquirers Classes

If you are interested in learning more about the Episcopal Church, you are invited to join us for five conversations on consecutive Sundays, beginning on July 8th and going though August 5th, from 6 to 7 pm in the library classroom. While these classes are especially important for anyone desiring to be confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church, they are open to all — newcomers as well as those who have been Episcopalians for years. The Schedule of topics and presenters are as follows:
July 15th — Sacraments and the Prayer Book, Teri Daily
July 22nd — The Discernment of Gifts, Kaye Staggs
July 29th — The Bible in the Episcopal Church, Dave Daily
August 5th — A Tour of the Church and the Practice of Prayer, Kaye Staggs

Pill Bottle Donations

Please save your empty pill bottles and bring to the church.  Look for a box in Shoemaker hall.  Matthew 25: Ministries accepts donations of empty plastic pill bottles for inclusion in shipments of medical supplies and for shredding and recycling. Our pill bottle program fulfills the dual needs of improving medical care in developing countries and caring for our environment.
Acceptable collection items include:
  •   Prescription and over-the-counter pill bottles
  •   Large and small pill bottles
  •   Pill Bottles with and without secure caps (child resistant)
Pill bottles that are not appropriate to include with shipments of medical supplies are recycled for cash that goes towards Matthew 25: Ministries’ programs. If you wish to prepare bottles for shipment rather than recycling, please adhere to the following guidelines:
  •   Bottles included in shipments of medical supplies must have an all plastic lid.
  •   Sort bottles by color and type.
  •   Remove labels, leaving no glue or residue.
  •   Wash bottles in very hot water and dish soap.
  •   Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  •   Replace lids on clean, dried bottles.
  •   Place clean, recapped bottles in large ziplock bags marked “Clean Bottles.” These will be blended with medical supplies.

Kimby Tackett….10 Things People May Not Know About Me

1. I am an encyclopedia of useless information about animals. Including things like,
a. Did you know on average, a chameleon’s tongue is roughly twice the length of its body?
b. Did you know that an owl’s facial feathers form a circle that collects sound waves and directs them to the owl’s ears? Owls can hear a beetle running 100 feet away.
c. Did you that crows will gather nuts and place them in the road for cars to crack open for them. They are also considered the 5th smartest animal in the world.
2. I am a supporter of animal conservation, which started when I was thirteen and attended a marine biology camp in Biloxi, MS. At the camp we dissected a sea turtle with fifty pounds of plastic in its stomach. That didn’t set right with me and I have volunteered, donated and worked toward conservation efforts for animals ever since.
3. I am a fish, meaning, I love the water and I’m a great swimmer. I am also a trained lifeguard through the Red Cross and I am C.P.R. certified.
4. I’m crafty and enjoy making things, crocheting things, sowing things, sculpting things, drawing things, building things, etcetera. You name it-I will make it. I enjoy seeing something and saying, “I can make that.”
5. I love to read and do often. I also enjoy writing as a hobby.
6. I love Disney movies and musicals and have been known to burst into song when someone unknowingly says the lyrics. I am also a Harry Potter fan…and I believe in fairies. Do you?
7. I have been raising kids since I myself was a young teenager. I love children and have been an aunt, mother, youth leader, and mentor to more kids than I can count in the last thirty years.
8. I love the great outdoors, hiking, fishing, boating, etcetera. It is my happy place.
9. I have had the best friend since the first grade. She beat up a boy on the playground for pulling my hair…she’s a keeper.
10. I make the best vegan cheese dip. According to my children, it is better than Stoby’s cheese dip and if you would like the recipe, I will share.
I would like to take this time to thank Kimby Tackett for her loyalty, efficiency and multi-tasking skills that have allowed her to keep All Saints on track with pledges, newsletters, church bulletins for every Church season and baptisms, marriages, confirmations and Celebration of Life services. She has been our Administrative Assistant since February 1st, 2011.
Kimby’s love for children has been demonstrated with an unconditional love in her years as a Vacation Bible School Director. She has served as director and organizer of 22 VBS programs, one for each year and Kimby has authored and created 13 different programs herself.
Kimby is a mama bear at heart and loves her children with every fiber of her being. Here is a chronological list of her children and their ages:
Kristin Tackett, 25, and her daughter Rylee Grace Moore, age 5.
Katy Tackett, 21, and upcoming nuptials at All Saints Episcopal in December 2018.
Gabriel Tackett, 14 and Owen Tackett, 12 years of age and his cat, Bunny Fufu.
Last, but never least, her beloved Bellamy, her fur baby.
Thank you for reading this latest Meet Your Fellow Parishioner.   Our Parish family is always with us in good times and the challenging times.
Sincerely, Dodie Lamb-Roberts.
