Repentance & Holiness

As you all know well for years i have lived a monastic life. I used to think being holy is following all the little rules and regulations of life. I believed for the longest time that to be truly holy one should practice some kind of spiritual discipline such as fasting, abstinence, humiliating oneself and the list can go on and on. But then one day I realized true repentance and penance lies in our ability to live with ourselves truthfully and then with those around us starting with our families and friends, church members and neighbors.

Repentance happens in this process of living and not dying. It creates new way of looking at people. Something is sin if it affect the love that nourishes a community.
