Weekly Announcements For September 9, 2018

All Saints’ Episcopal Church Newsletter, Sept. 9, 2018
Vision and Mission Statement
Vision Statement: A community living and growing in unity with God and all people through Christ.
Mission Statement: To seek God in reverent worship, service to neighbors, gracious hospitality, and the pursuit of wisdom.

A Note from Rev. Teri

Some of you may have noticed the change in our vision and mission statement, a change that was voted on recently by our vestry. Our vision statement underscores our desire (or perhaps more accurately, our call) to reach outside the doors of our church, to be a community that spills over into the greater world and seeks unity with all people through the reconciling love of Christ.
Our mission statement expresses how we intend to become this community we feel God is calling us to become — through reverent worship in the Anglican tradition, through service to our neighbors (the person who walks in our doors seeking money for gas, our guests at Neighbors Table, those wishing to take part in our community garden, the 12-step groups who use our space, and many more), through gracious hospitality (pastoral care and fellowship for our members, as well as a generous welcome for our visitors), and through the pursuit of wisdom (our many wonderful Christian formation opportunities).
I invite us all to let this vision and mission statement seep into our hearts and minds, embracing the ways we at All Saints’ can strive to (in the words of our prayer book) “represent Christ and his Church; to bear witness to him wherever we may be; and, according to the gifts given us, to carry on Christ’s work of reconciliation in the world” (BCP 855).
