Camp Mitchell Youth Opportunities Throughout the School Year

Arkansas Youth Event (AYE) is October 19th-21st. This is the fall weekend retreat at Camp Mitchell open to 6th-12th grade youth. It is a great kick-off to the new school year, a chance to spend some time with old friends, and a time to make new friends from all over the state. At AYE there are games, hikes, a dance, singing, praying, laughter and more. It all happens in 40 hours. That’s right…it’s pretty amazing. It is open to all youth across the state and costs $120. Register here (http://eycarkansas.org/aye/).
Winterstar is the Episcopal Diocese of Arkansas’ annual Spring Retreat for youth in the 6th-12th grade. Winterstar 2019 is March 8th-10th. The weekend includes games, music, worship services, hiking, sports, hammocking and even more Camp goodness.

A Book Study: Healing the Heart of Democracy by Parker Palmer

“For those of us who want to see democracy survive and thrive-and we are legion-the heart is where everything begins: that grounded place in each of us where we can overcome fear, rediscover that we are members of one another, and embrace the conflicts that threaten democracy as openings to new life for us and for our nation.”
– from the “Prelude” in Parker J. Palmer’s Healing the Heart of Democracy
Join us for this four-week series on Healing the Heart of Democracy by Parker Palmer, featuring short videos as our entrance into the discussion. Starting October 28th.
Co-Sponsored by the Greater Arkansas Interfaith Network and Building Bridges for the Common Good.

Coffee with the Curate

I am looking for a few people, kids 10+ welcomed too, to help take turns recording services for broadcast. Preferably the 10:30 am service. If anyone is interested in learning how to do it and take turns helping out, please contact Melissa Simpson 479-280-9551 or mleasimpson@gmail.com

Loaves and Fish

Most of the guests who join us on Saturday for lunch face many challenges; the members and friends of All Saints’ can provide a few essential items to help them out.
Please place items in the little red wagon in the Nave. Gifts received at Sunday Worship Service will be available for our Neighbors Table guests the following Saturday.
August 19th toilet paper
August 26th laundry detergent and hand soap

Pill Bottle Donations

Please save your empty pill bottles and bring to the church.  Look for a box in Shoemaker hall.  Matthew 25: Ministries accepts donations of empty plastic pill bottles for inclusion in shipments of medical supplies and for shredding and recycling. Our pill bottle program fulfills the dual needs of improving medical care in developing countries and caring for our environment.
Acceptable collection items include:
  •   Prescription and over-the-counter pill bottles
  •   Large and small pill bottles
  •   Pill Bottles with and without secure caps (child resistant)
Pill bottles that are not appropriate to include with shipments of medical supplies are recycled for cash that goes towards Matthew 25: Ministries’ programs. If you wish to prepare bottles for shipment rather than recycling, please adhere to the following guidelines:
  •   Bottles included in shipments of medical supplies must have an all plastic lid.
  •   Sort bottles by color and type.
  •   Remove labels, leaving no glue or residue.
  •   Wash bottles in very hot water and dish soap.
  •   Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  •   Replace lids on clean, dried bottles.
  •   Place clean, recapped bottles in large ziplock bags marked “Clean Bottles.” These will be blended with medical supplies.
